Lesego Rampolokeng (1965- )

The violence and Catholicism that was part of his childhood are behind the bluntness as well as examination of degradation and oppression in his poetry, which also draws upon musical elements. Rampolokeng’s works include A Half Century Thing (2015), Head on Fire: Rants / Notes / Poems 2001–2011, The Bavino Sermons (1999), Talking Rain (1993), and Horns for Hondo (1990), which won the Africa Network Kwanzaa Award. His poetry was also featured into the Handspring Puppet Company production of Faustus.
