Become a research assistant

We are currently seeking individuals for the following three assistant roles.

Poetry Data

The Poetry Data role is responsible for assisting us with the acquisition and organizing of data about poets for our map, profiles, and exhibitions. This includes communicating with poets, collaborators, and organizations regarding poetry related information. Please examine our map and current profiles for a sense of what this may look like. The Poetry Data role also involves working closely with collaborators on our forthcoming exhibitions (for 2023-2025, our two exhibitions will be focused on west-African poetry, so a working knowledge of languages indigenous to Ghana or Nigeria would be a plus but are not necessary).

Marketing and Social Media

The Marketing and Social Media role is for someone interested in working on our social media presence, editing our 1-minute poetry series, assisting with our newsletters, and marketing and advertising Poetry Marketplace, our Poetry Workshop series, and our lectures and talks. This role will be for Fall 203 with the potentiality of continuing into the Spring. This is a stipend based position which will require 5 hours per week.

Information

Research assistantships and volunteer opportunities generally run each semester (Fall, Spring, and Summer). Starting Summer 2021, all research roles will be accompanied with a stipend based on the number of hours per week for the role or will be for college credit.

Summer positions are for 5-30 hours per week. We will begin interviewing candidates on May 24th, but applications will be accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis.

We will hire for fall 2023 and spring 2024 starting in August and September.
