Research
The Global Poetics Project studies African and Black diasporic poetry and its transnational networks using computational, spatial and archival methods.
Our research takes several forms: web-based projects, published articles and work in progress. Each is labeled so you can see what it is and where it stands.

The Poet Map
Web projectOngoingWhere were poems written, published and read? A searchable map of poets, small presses, journals and collectives around the world, with short biographies of poets writing in English and in translation. We have an extensive backlog of poets, including poets from other parts of the world, in places such as Asia and Europe, and we add them to the map as we work with their data for other projects
For researchers: humanities GIS built from archival research and curated poet data.
-
Transition and African Literary Networks

For researchers: network analysis and data visualization of periodical archives; published in Research in African Literatures.
-
African Poetic Style

Data
Where we can, we share the datasets behind our projects, with documentation of sources and methods. Browse datasets
