From New York City, Erica Jong obtained a MA in 18th-century literature at Columbia University. Jong writes about female sexuality, mainly the role of women in modern society. Although mostly known for her novels, she has several collections of poetry, such as Fruits and Vegetables (1971), Half-Lives (1973), Loveroot (1975), At the Edge of the Body (1979), Ordinary Miracles (1983), Becoming Light: New and Selected Poems (1991), and Love Comes First (2009).
