Geoffrey Sabiti Kabushenga

Geoffrey Sabiti Kabushenga was a Ugandan diplomat and poet. He was born on May 24, 1942, in Kabale, Uganda, and attended Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda. As a student, he published several poems in the literary magazine Transition. During Idi Amin’s regime, Kabushenga was forced into exile in Kenya, where he worked as an English teacher for three years. After he returned to Uganda, he served as a senior diplomat in Russia, Denmark, Sudan, and Ethiopia, before retiring from public service in 2000 to focus on writing. He died on August 17, 2009.
