Kay Ryan is a poet born in California in 1945. She has published many books of poetry, including Say Uncle (2000), The Niagara River (2005), and Flamingo Watching (2006). She won the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry for her book The Best of It: New and Selected Poems (2010). Ryan served as poet laureate to the United States from 2008-2010.
