Melania-Luisa Marte (N/A-Present)

Melania-Luisa Marte is a poet born and raised in New York City, currently residing in the Dominican Republic. Her poetry and artistic practice (which includes slam, music, long-form prose, and mixed media) focuses on intersectional feminism and her Afro-Latinx identity as a Carribean-American. Her current project, to be released in 2023, will be about Black preservation and her identities’ connection to the enviroment. Marte’s poem, titled “Afro-Latina”, received 9 million views online. Heavily integrated into the online world, she continues to represent diasporic practices both in her work and her social presence.
