About
Established in 1994, the Black Mountain Press is dedicated to promoting work of emerging authors of literary poetry, novels and short stories. As cinema, art and story telling has plummeted in literary quality to appeal to the lowest common denominator in recent years, the Black Mountain Press strives to find and publish works that aspire to a higher ideal, many times written by unknown, first time authors, without agents representing them.

Submission Guidelines
We will accept submissions through December 2028. Due to the overwhelming interest in publishing with the Black Mountain Press, submissions can not be returned and will be re-cycled. We accept manuscripts through submittable only. There is a submission fee if sent through Submittable. Send your finished, book-length manuscript, along with a cover letter containing contact information, and relevant biographical information. Manuscripts should be typed on one side of the page only; prose manuscripts double spaced with a 12pt font. If accepted for publication a electronic document in .doc or .txt will be requested at that time. Send Completed Manuscripts Only!
