W. H. Auden (1907-1973)

W. H. Auden was an English-born poet who wrote verse dramas and poetry. He became a U.S. citizen in 1939 after settling in the United States. Auden’s work is collected in two chronological volumes, Collected Shorter Poems (1967) and Collected Longer Poems (1969). His work both strived to understand the times and express Auden’s imagination in written form, which makes his work, at times, obscure and difficult to interpret.
